DESCRIPTION:Join Connext for a happy hour and tour of one of Cultivate Kansas City's farms! We'll have drinks and snacks for you as you learn about and walk through Cultivate KC's Westport Commons Farm next to Plexpod.\n\n \n\nWhen you arrive\, grab a drink and snacks then take a tour of the garden to learn how Cultivate KC is growing food\, farms and our community. After the tour\, you choose to take a tour of Plexpod\, a progressive coworking campus\, or stay outside and enjoy networking\, food and drinks. (If we have a rainy day\, we'll host the event inside Plexpod.)\n\n \n\nAbout Cultivate KC: Cultivate Kansas City is a locally-grown nonprofit working to grow food\, farms\, and community in support of a sustainable and healthy local food system for all. We believe that growing and sharing local food nurtures our ability to care for each other and the world in which we live. Cultivate KC operates a training farm for resettled refugees in Kansas City\, KS\, serves as a resource by providing technical assistance expertise for area urban farms and food projects and helps low-income families access te healthy local food we all need by matching federal and state benefit dollars at area farmers markets. Cultivate KC's new Westport Commons Farm will be a training and demonstration farm located in the heart of the city at the Plexpod Westport Commons Complex. After breaking ground in 2018\, a series of cover crops were planted to enhance the soil while we work to raise the needed funds for infrastructure. In 2019\, Cultivate KC is incorporating traditional vegetable crops\, a sweet potato patch and more cover crops to make the soil ready for full scale vegetable production in 2020.
