SUMMARY:Shift the Status Quo: Tangible Steps to Diversify Your Board
DESCRIPTION:Does your organization have a diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and belonging strategy? Are you actively looking to build a more inclusive system to foster greater board diversity? Do you have clients or representatives of the communities you serve actively sitting on your board?\n\n \n\nThere are so many questions to ask when deciding the best ways to diversify your board makeup. True board diversity requires more than changing the faces around your table. You need to cultivate a new\, more inclusive system\, which requires intention\, time\, and effort. As nonprofit leaders\, it can be overwhelming to know where and how to start.\n\n \n\nThat's why we've invited Nicole Jacobs Silvey\, Founder of Connections Coach KC\, to share an interactive session. Nicole will leave you with easy steps you can take today to start the marathon of shifting power and building a more inclusive organization\, from the top down.\n\n \n\nDuring this session\, participants will gain:\n\n\n	An understanding of historical and systemic factors that lead to homogenous boards\n	Templates to help analyze current board make up and processes for setting goals\n	Examples of tangible steps nonprofits can take to create more viewpoints at the table\n	Case studies of nonprofits that have started their board diversity journey and lessons learned\n\n\n This session is ideal for board members and executive leaders.\n\nPresenter:\n\n\n\nNicole Jacobs Silvey is a coach\, consultant\, speaker and writer but above all\, she is a connector. Driven by a desire to connect people to their purpose and passion so they can reach their potential\, Nicole founded Connection Coach KC\, a firm focusing on executive coaching and diversity\, equity and inclusion (DEI) consulting. Nicole is also a sought-after speaker and writer with an expertise in topics related to DEI\, leadership development and women's empowerment.\n\n\n\nNicole's most celebrated DEI work is in not-for-profit board development. She is active on several boards and committees such as: The Coterie Theatre\, KC Rising's DEI Advisory Committee\, KC Ballet's Education and Engagement Committee\, Executive Women's Leadership Council (Greater Kansas City Chamber)\, C3KC Community Advisory Committee (Junior League) and St. Peter's Catholic School Board of Directors.\n\n\n\nA servant leader at heart\, Nicole is passionate about philanthropy and volunteerism.\n\n\n\nProgram Policies:\nNo refunds will be processed within 3 business days of the program date.
