DESCRIPTION:This month at Science City\, we're exploring the Science of YOU! Join us for a month of special activities and interactive demos inspired by the amazing human body. PLUS\, Nature Works Animal Chats\, Act Natural Workshops\, Early Learner activities\, and more! All included with your Science City admission. Free for members.\n\n \n\nJuly Monthly Activities:\n\nMAKER STUDIO:\n\nBuild a Biomechanical Hand   Build a bio-mechanical hand using custom laser-cut pieces while learning about the ligaments and muscles that control the way your body moves.\n\n \n\nCREATIVE CORNER:\n\nWhat Makes a Human Body   Guests will be challenged to draw the human body without lifting their pencil from the paper. The goal isn't to create a perfect drawing\, but to focus on the features that make the human body instantly recognizable and discover which details can be left more abstract.\n\n \n\nPERIODIC TABLE:\n\nCalorimeter   Learn how we fuel our bodies to perform by burning food and seeing how much energy it releases.\n\nMechanical Kicking   Operate a model of the human leg muscles and skeleton to see if you're able to score a goal!\n\nHuman Anatomy   Use a Curiscope and a Viruali-Tee to see inside the human body.\n\n \n\nENGINEERIUM:\n\nMake your favorite LEGO figure and add it to our collaborative mosaic.\n\n \n\nNATURE WORKS ANIMAL CHATS:\n\nJoin us for our daily Animal Chats to learn more about our animals!\n\n11am and 3pm Tuesday through Saturday\, 12:30pm and 2pm Sundays.\n\nJuly 1-18 - FIFA Cockroach races: Join us as we race our hissing cockroaches down a track to see who will win this years FIFA World Cup! They will also be continuing the discussions about natural materials used to make different kinds of sports equipment\, such as leather\, wood\, stone\, etc.\n\nJuly 19 - 31 - Shark dissection nature chats in celebration of Shark Week! Learn about the internal mechanisms of sharks as we open them up to get a closer look.\n\n \n\nACT NATURAL:\n\nHow do our bodies create motion? In Act Natural this month\, you'll become a Scientist of Biomechanics! By jumping\, balancing\, reacting\, and experimenting with your own strength & coordination\, you will discover how your body is a powerful system made of muscles\, bones\, nerves\, and energy working together. Power through 8 challenges that highlight a different type of movement to understand how everyday actions like throwing\, jumping\, and balancing are all shaped by science in action. Let's get moving!\n\nWednesdays and Saturdays from 3pm   4pm.\n\n \n\nEARLY LEARNING ACTIVITIES :\n\nJoin us in our Mini Med School and learn about the human body! Highlights this month include:\n\nTalk: Where is your nose? What does this feel like? Where have you heard that sound before?\n\nSing: "Head\, Shoulders\, Knees & Toes.\n\nRead: See Inside Your Body by Colin King.\n\nWrite: Fine motor skills development.\n\nPlay: Mr. Potato Head parts\, puzzles and sensory station.\n\nEarly Learner activities take place in the PNC Learning Lab\n\nWednesday through Saturday from 10am-1pm.
