It’s almost Halloween, and Nonprofit Connect and AFP Mid-America Chapter invite their members to a spooky program on a subject that haunts many of us in the sector: how to sustain our nonprofits in a changing landscape.
Many of us are looking for new funding sources; one option is start a business venture that generates mission-related revenue. That’s pretty scary! Will we sell our organization’s “soul” if we create a profit-earning enterprise?
Others of us may be turning our attention to restructuring our organization to ensure we excel not only at providing services but are sustainable over time; one way to do that is to merge with another organization. Does that thought make you howl? New alliances and partnerships can have their challenges but can also offer rewarding opportunities for some if we ask the right questions before embarking on that journey.
So, while things around us change and impact our organizations, leaders have to make tough decisions about programs, staffing, budgets and other goblins; leaders today need to anticipate, confront and overcome challenges—what does that leader look like? What attributes do they have?
Come explore these and other ideas and questions with your colleagues. Participate in a conversation with our special guests:
