Assist hearing-impaired donors during life-saving blood drives
Use your fluency in American Sign Language to help Community Blood Center save lives during local blood drives. We are currently seeking volunteers who are fluent in ASL to assist with translating/interpreting for hearing impaired donors at blood centers and mobile blood drives. Interpreters will assist a donor throughout the entirety of the donation process and translate verbal information, as well as translate written documents for the donor. Blood drive schedules vary and may take place on weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.
Training and orientation provided, A background check and interpretive skill assessment will be conducted. Minimum age: 16. Volunteers asked to commit to at least one shift/month or at least 12 volunteer hours in a minimum of six months of service. Flexible scheduling available. AEIP certification a plus.
