Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City seeks a new team member who thrives on building & stewarding relationships, cultivating volunteer partnership & leadership, and inspiring generosity (philanthropy) to serve as the Affinity Groups Manager.
Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, this individual will oversee Women’s Philanthropy and other key affinity groups, like Jewish Real Estate Professionals, Jewish Medical Professionals and Jewish Business Networking.
This individual will work to steward, cultivate and raise funds from group members—from existing regular donors to new prospects, and will personally manage a portfolio of 75 or more donors/prospects. Generating new and increased contributions to the Jewish Federation annual campaign will be a key performance indicator.
This role will involve planning and executing thoughtful events and programs, including but not limited to campaign-related events, education or engagement-oriented events, networking events and leadership development programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maximize philanthropy among women in the Kansas City Jewish community, a dedicated and growing segment of the Jewish Federation's donor base. Identify, recruit, educate and motivate volunteers to actively participate in campaign and Women's Philanthropy activities. Engage in community activities and serve as a leadership role model for women in the community.
- Develop and implement an event/program plan and calendar for each affinity group.
- Cultivate and steward donor prospects to grow the annual campaign donor base and secure meaningful gifts through face-to-face solicitations and phone conversations.
- Working in partnership with volunteer leadership, schedule & plan meetings and programs/events and set agendas. Ensure distribution of meeting notes and follow-through on action items.
- Partner closely with marketing team to communicate with various affinity groups and maximize engagement at events/programs.
Required Experience, Skills, Abilities & Characteristics:
- Minimum 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in nonprofit / corporate setting
- Demonstrated success in planning/organizing programs bringing people together
- Demonstrated success in growing financial resources and creating new partnerships
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Strong emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader and as part of a team
- Demonstrated understanding of volunteer/professional dynamics
- Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekend meetings/events
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Jewish community, customs, values and traditions, including Israel
Understanding of, appreciation and passion for the mission of Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City
