Northland Therapeutic Riding Center, is a recognized 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2000 in response to a strong community need for therapeutic riding. Located in Kearney, Missouri, Northland Therapeutic Riding Center offers an environment where children, teens, and adults with physical, psychological, and behavioral challenges are overcoming obstacles and challenging conventions through nationally accredited and globally recognized equine-assisted interactions.
 
Job Description
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC) is searching for an enthusiastic, positive Executive Director to be responsible for the successful implementation of all fund development, financial and administrative aspects of the organization’s programs and operations in accordance with the Mission Statement of NTRC.  The Executive Director is the face of NTRC and is charged with promoting NTRC and its mission building partnerships within the community and developing/executing a sustainable fundraising strategy. The Executive Director has the authority and responsibility to provide leadership to NTRC to achieve the goals, objectives and sustainable future of the organization.
 
Supervisory relationships
The Executive Director reports directly to the President of NTRC’s Board. The Executive Director has two direct reports and is ultimately responsible for all NTRC staff and volunteer.
 
Fund Development
·       Ensure a robust and effective Fund Development program.  Develop, promote and oversee all fund development activities including individual and corporate donor campaigns, fundraiser events, foundation and grant requests, earned income and social enterprise revenue streams.
·       Nurture and strengthen donor relations. Serve as point of contact for all current and future donors.
·       Research, write and submit grant applications and fulfill reporting requirements for foundation and corporate funding.
·       Ensure that accurate donor records are maintained.
·       Ensure timely and appropriate donor appreciation.
·       Maintain the annual und development calendar and ensure all fund development activities are occurring in a timely fashion.
·       Routinely assess fund development goals and revise strategies as necessary.
·       Work in conjunction with Board of Directors to develop and implement major giving efforts.
·       Attend volunteer Fundraising Committee meetings. Participate in all fund-raising events.
 
Marketing and Community Relations
·       Be the ‘face’ of NTRC to the community by being active in the local Chamber of Commerce and regularly promoting NTRC and its mission through presentations to area organizations and businesses.
·       Develop and execute a strategy for attracting new riders and recruiting donors and volunteers.
·       Maintain the NTRC website and social media accounts.
·       Prepare NTRC Annual Report.
·       Develop promotional flyers, letters and brochures.  Explore promotional opportunities in print and in other media.
·       Lead tours of the NTRC facility.
 
Fiscal Management
·       Ensure financial solvency and transparency.
·       Monitor all fiscal matters and ensure prudent and effective management of all resources.
·       Apply for grants from Clay, Platte and Clinton counties and bill each county at the end of each session.
·       Prepare payroll and verify timesheets for each employee.
·       Prepare invoice statement for riders and ensure payment.
·       Prepare and recommend an annual operating budget.
·       Prepare month end reconciliation for accountant.
·       Ensure and coordinate an effective annual audit.
 
Personnel
·       Provide ongoing supervision and evaluation of direct reports and ensure ongoing supervision and evaluation of all staff and volunteers.
·       Conduct hiring and if necessary termination of staff.
·       Inform Board about employee promotions and disciplinary actions of employees.
·       Promote staff professional development.
·       Maintain open lines of communication with staff through regular staff meetings.
·       Ensure and implement timely and accurate payroll process and systems.
·       Promote a team environment, including effective ethical communication and conflict management.
·       Ensure NTRC operates in compliance with all state and federal personnel regulations and legal requirements.
Administration
·       Work closely with the Program Director to ensure program is well-executed and riders and their parents/guardians are receiving appropriate feedback.
·       Attend all NTRC Board meeting.
·       Ensure effective maintenance of NTRC databases.
·       Ensure files for riders and volunteers are current and contain appropriate releases and forms.
·       Ensure quality assurance of data entry regarding donors, participants and personnel.
·       Ensure timely accurate deposits of all earned income and donations.
·       Ensure compliance of PATH standards and maintain PATH Premier Accreditation status.
Qualifications
College degree preferred.
Proven experience with non-profit fundraising.
Equine experience a plus but not required.
 
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience
