Position: The Volunteer Coordinator will be an integral member of the Development & Community Relations Team, reporting directly to the Community Engagement Manager.

Goal: To continue growing and maintaining the volunteer department to meet the expanding needs of Pawsperity.
Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, retains, and manages volunteers for all aspects of the organization.
  • Identifies, designs, and supports volunteer-led programs and events.
  • Leads volunteer orientations (1-2 times per month).
  • Coordinates volunteer appreciation efforts; creates annual recognition event.
  • Manages and creates processes for Volgistics (volunteer database).
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Specialist to advertise volunteer needs.
  • Works closely with the Corporate Partnership and Communications Manager to ensure corporate volunteer projects are continuously available to engage larger groups.
  • Advises and assists department leads responsible for overseeing their teams of volunteers (i.e. Events, Speakers Bureau, Tour Guides, Graduation, Back-to-School, Thanksgiving, Adopt-A-Family etc )
  • Recruits, hires, and manages an AmeriCorps Vista participant (32 hours a week) to support the program.
  • Manages team of volunteers (2-3 individuals) to assist with tracking, reporting, training, and other program duties.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting
  • Create and maintain the volunteer handbook.
  • Other duties, as needed.
Salary:   $19 - $22 per hour, depending on experience
Hours:   40 hours per week, some evenings needed based on volunteer events and training.
  Ability to work remotely as needed, with approval from supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in volunteer coordination, relationship-building, or customer service, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Possess a deep commitment to helping families exit poverty and the ability to see how the volunteer program is key to further the work of Pawsperity.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of the need to form relationships, communicate regularly by phone, email or in-person meetings
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable learning new software
  • Professional, organized, and strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and works well under pressure.
