About Us

For nearly 50 years, Community Assistance Council (CAC) has served South Kansas City by helping individuals and families move from crisis to stability. Guided by our mission, **Empowering Families. Building Futures.**, we provide compassionate, trauma-responsive services that address both immediate needs and long-term success.

CAC offers food and hygiene assistance, emergency rent and utility support, case management, financial education, workforce development, behavioral health services, maternal and child health programs, youth and family supports, and connections to community resources. We believe every family deserves dignity, opportunity, and the support needed to thrive.

As we prepare to open our new 25,000-square-foot Community Action Network (CAN) Center, CAC is expanding access to integrated services and strengthening partnerships that improve health, economic mobility, and overall well-being across South Kansas City.

Whether through volunteering, partnering, or investing in our mission, every connection helps build a stronger community. Together, we are creating pathways to hope, resilience, and lasting change.
