Cross-Lines was established in 1963 as “a place of hope” for those struggling with the hardships of poverty. We are a trusted safety net for the community in Wyandotte County. Our staff of 16 and more than 1,800 volunteers a year provide direct assistance to at-risk families, the elderly and single individuals struggling to make ends meet. Cross-Lines’ mission provides people in the Kansas City area affected by poverty with services and opportunities that encourage self-confidence, meet the needs of today, and provide tools for future self-sufficiency. Maintaining self-sufficiency and treating people with dignity is critical and Cross-Lines is a vital partner helping families in Wyandotte County. Cross-Lines not only addresses the problems associated with poverty by providing emergency assistance such as food, clothing, medical and financial assistance; our extended case management services assist individuals in increasing their ability to remain self-sufficient when the emergency assistance is over. Cross-Lines helps individuals transform their lives, rather than just helping them merely survive. Because of our reputation and longevity in the community, many of those in need come to Cross-Lines for help when they are in crisis. Cross-Lines has three main programs:
Basic Needs
Housing Stabilization
Hunger Relief
