Nonprofit Connect Honors More Than 37 Nonprofit Organization and 28 Creative Agencies At The 2020 Philly Awards
Kansas City, MO – November 12, 2020 - Nonprofit Connect honored 37 nonprofit organizations and 28 creative agencies and freelancers for excellence in marketing and communications at the 2020 Philly Awards on Tuesday, November 10 online at npconnect.org.
Any and all nonprofit organizations were invited to submit marketing pieces in a variety of categories. Nonprofit Connect received over 170 entries from 90 different nonprofits in 2020. Entries were evaluated by Nonprofit Connect’s judging panel featuring local marketing experts in the nonprofit and for-profit industries. Judges awarded first place (Gold) and second place (Silver) entries in fifteen categories, honored top-scoring entries with a contest-wide Award of Distinction, and selected the Best in Show entry. The People’s Choice Award was voted on via social media in the week leading up to the event.
Now in their 18th year, the Philly Awards celebrate local nonprofits driving social change through outstanding achievements in communications and marketing. Nonprofit Connect’s signature contest enhances the image of nonprofit organizations and elevates the professionalism of nonprofit communications in our community, according to a recent Philly Award winner.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARD
Nonprofit Connect also awarded the Community Champion Award to two creative agencies. Nonprofit Connect added the Community Champion Award to recognize those creative agencies that go above and beyond to support the nonprofit community. Nonprofit organizations nominated agencies that deserved to be thanked for their generous donation of time, talent or treasure, and a committee selected two winners based on their pro-bono work, company volunteerism and a culture of community involvement. The winners receive the Community Champion 2020 recognition, as well as a complimentary membership with Nonprofit Connect to supercharge their agency's involvement in 2020.
LILLIAN JAMES CREATIVE was nominated by The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri. This small but mighty team view giving back to the community as a social responsibility. Often making personal and professional sacrifices that exceed the typical recommendation of what a company of their size might offer, Lillian James Creative feels strongly about the opportunity to help others in any way they can. Their leadership team is extremely active not only in marketing services, but also in other volunteer activities such as serving on nonprofit boards, mentoring students, and a variety of other hands-on projects. Lillian James Creative is an agency that cares about the community and continuously strives to do everything they can to lift up those building it. Congratulations to Lillian James Creative!
BARKLEY was nominated by Children’s Mercy for their creative support and vision of the annual event, “Big Slick Celebrity Weekend.” With the event now in its 10th year, Barkley’s creative vision has reinvented the wheel each year to generate new excitement and exposure for the event while always keeping the kids of Children’s Mercy at the forefront. When asked about their agency’s philosophy on giving back in Kansas City, Barkley responded, “If you’re serious about making the world a better place, you must add something good to it. It’s about starting and spreading worthwhile conversations and ideas that live up to our mission of Adding Good.” Congratulations to Barkley!
