Wonderscope is the region’s only accessible, non-profit children’s museum dedicated to providing STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math – educational experiences for young children and their families. Wonderscope features 30,000 square feet of indoor exploration and 1/2 acre of year-round outdoor adventure, all with a unique Kansas City theme.
 

Title/Position:            Visual Communications Coordinator

 

Reports to:            Director of Development & Communications

General Responsibilities:     The Visual Communications Manager will contribute to Wonderscope’s mission by creating innovative, engaging, and functional visual communications. The ideal candidate will be a personable, self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a diverse, playful, team-oriented environment and supports Wonderscope's mission, vision, and values. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Develop branding and materials for museum programming

  2. Develop branding and materials for fundraising events and campaigns

  3. Design digital and print museum signage, ads, and collateral 

  4. Take photos and videos of museum activities and events

  5. Create graphics for social media platforms

  6. Work with printers to complete print projects

  7. Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills:

 
  1. Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a minimum of three years’ experience in graphic design and illustration 

  2. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva

  3. Proficiency in photography and videography

  4. Ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple projects, complete last-minute projects, and meet deadlines efficiently and with ease

  5. Commitment to excellence in customer service and teamwork

  6. Excellent organizational skills

  7. Ability to genuinely communicate with diverse guests of all backgrounds and abilities

  8. High comfort level working in a fast-paced, high-traffic, public environment

  9. Reliable, flexible, and able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other staff members as a positive team player

  10. A strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of WCM

 

Hours of work: Monday 9:00a-3:00p, Tuesday-Friday 8:30a-4:30p

Compensation: $35,000-$40,000 salary, dependent on experience and ability. Benefits include health/dental/vision options, flexible PTO, and 401(k).
