Research shows that the way words are spoken and what is conveyed through facial expression and body language significantly impacts perception. First impressions are formed in the first two seconds of a face-to-face encounter and they are based on nonverbal delivery. As professionals, we continually refine content based on best business practices, yet we often fail to refine the delivery of that content.
What does the body language of others reveal to you? What nonverbal messages might you be sending unaware? How can you avoid sending mixed messages? Dr. Jennifer Martin, UMKC - Hall Family Foundation Professor of Theatre Emerita at UMKC, addresses these questions and offers strategies for refining professional communication and enhancing effectiveness. Dr. Martin is a personal performance coach with over forty years’ experience coaching professionals in business, law and medicine and actors for successful performances on stage.
