Employment-related disputes now comprise the largest category of cases on the civil docket in federal court. They are also some of the most costly cases an organization can face – both monetarily, and as they affect an organization’s reputation. This session provides an overview of the various laws and regulations and other legal theories over which employers are sued. The session is designed to help you identify which of these laws apply to your organization, become familiar with the requirements of these laws, know how they affect your day-to-day decision-making, and when you need to reach out for help.
Our speaker is Shelly L. Freeman, President & CEO of HROI. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a labor and employment attorney and has also been an HR director for a large company. Her skill in discussing the intricacies of employment law with humor and in terms that non-lawyers understand, makes her a sought after speaker in both the private and public sectors.
