About Front Porch Alliance

Front Porch Alliance is a Kansas City-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families on the Eastside through education, youth development, and community engagement. Our work is rooted in building strong relationships and creating opportunities for long-term impact.

Position Summary

Front Porch Alliance is seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Board members play a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission by providing strategic oversight, ensuring financial health, and actively supporting resource development through fundraising and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Board members collectively:

• Uphold and advance the mission and vision of Front Porch Alliance
• Provide strategic leadership, including reviewing and guiding the organization’s strategic plan
• Ensure sound governance through oversight of bylaws, policies, and procedures
• Monitor financial performance and approve the annual operating budget
• Support and evaluate organizational leadership
• Actively contribute to and support fundraising strategies and initiatives
• Establish and participate in board committees

Individual Board Member Expectations

Board members are expected to:

• Attend and actively participate in bi-monthly board meetings
• Serve on at least one committee and contribute approximately 4–6 hours per month
• Actively support fundraising efforts, including:
  • Making a personally meaningful annual financial contribution and/or
  • Leveraging personal and professional networks to secure donations, sponsorships, or in-kind support
• Participate in fundraising events and, when possible, assist with planning, outreach, or sponsorship acquisition
• Serve as an advocate and ambassador for Front Porch Alliance in the community
• Engage with programs and attend events to stay connected to the mission and impact

Time Commitment

• Board meetings: Every other month (approximately 2 hours)
• Committee work: 4–6 hours per month
• Fundraising and events: Varies throughout the year

Term Length

• Three-year term
• Eligible to serve up to two consecutive terms
