Title: Development Associate
Reports to: Director of Development
Salary: $38,000-$44,000 DOE
Description: The Development Associate is a full-time, non-exempt position that provides essential support to Phoenix Family’s Development Team. This role combines donor services, communications, and project coordination to help execute the organization’s annual development strategy. Responsibilities include fundraising support, database management, and administrative tasks that contribute to the overall success of the team.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate works closely with and provides support to all members of the four-person Development and Communications Team. This position also involves frequent interaction with Phoenix Family staff, donors, vendors, and volunteers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Manage Phoenix Family’s social media accounts, including posting content, brainstorming campaign ideas, and analyzing analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.
- Help plan, implement, and coordinate annual donation drives: Adopt a Family/Adopt a Senior, Operation Backpack, and Diaper Drives.
- Process all donations including daily gift batches, credit card donations, and ACH donations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Produce, print, prepare, and mail gift/grant acknowledgement letters and tax receipts.
- Maintain accurate donor records, updating individual, corporate, and foundation records, contact preferences, new addresses, and other details, as well as ensuring all staff correspondence with donors are recorded.
- Prepare lists and reports in the database for donor segmentation to be used in future campaigns.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising reports for board and staff.
- Provide support for all fundraising events, including soliciting of both live and silent auction items.
- Provide administrative support for the development team including supporting in-house mailings (e.g., new donor welcome package, sponsorship packets/mailings, tribute notifications, year-end tax statements and other correspondence to donors.)
- Maintain physical donor communication materials and inventory of general development team supplies.
- Attend internal and external meetings and community events as required.
- Provide excellent customer service for donors who have questions related to giving (e.g. available to answer the phone during office hours, timely responses to emails and voicemails, and coordinating internally to answer donor questions as needed).

Experience: This is an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines and achieve goals; pay attention to details; have excellent communication skills; and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Intermediate computer skills especially in Microsoft Office and data entry. Salesforce database experience a plus.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and prioritize routine tasks with little supervision. Committed to excellence in database management.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Capable of managing multiple complex tasks effectively and timely to meet deadlines.

Work Hours: This is a full-time position, primarily in-office. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Occasional travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area with mileage reimbursement.
