Organization Overview
The Latinx Education Collaborative (LEC) is a Kansas City-based nonprofit dedicated to creating the conditions in which Latino youth, families, and educators can thrive. Through educator pathways, student programming, family-centered supports, and community networks, LEC strengthens the relationships and resources that help Latinx students succeed in school and beyond.
Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join LEC in a newly created role. The Development & Communications Manager works closely with the Executive Director to design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that strengthens the organization's long-term financial sustainability with diversified revenue sources.
This is an on-site position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The specific schedule will be determined in collaboration with the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning

Partner with the Executive Director to develop and implement LEC's annual fundraising plan with clear revenue goals.

Create and maintain the annual development calendar.

Track and acknowledge gifts and measure progress toward fundraising goals.

Monitor development expenses and support the annual budgeting process.
Development and Database Management

Write and submit grant proposals to foundations.

Prepare grant reports for current funders.

Research prospective funding opportunities aligned with LEC's mission.

Prepare and mail donor acknowledgment letters in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate donor and fundraising records.

Manage online fundraising and email appeals.

Coordinate and support fundraising initiatives.
Marketing and Communications

Create monthly newsletters in collaboration with the LEC team using Bloomerang.

Maintain organization-wide email distribution lists.

Manage LEC's social media presence by scheduling and publishing content that supports organizational and program goals.

Update LEC’s website.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong computer proficiency, including experience with Google Workspace.

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team.

Dependable, responsive, and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Minimum of two years of nonprofit fundraising experience.

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, liberal arts, or a related field.

Experience with Canva, WordPress, and Bloomerang or similar donor CRM and email marketing platforms.

Familiarity with the Latino community.

Spanish language proficiency preferred.
Classification & Compensation
Position: Full-time, Exempt (40 hours per week)
Salary

$60,000 annually, with opportunities for annual merit-based and cost-of-living salary increases.
