Organizational Overview

Pharmacy of Grace is a 501(c)(3) charitable pharmacy with a vision for all people, regardless of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, to have affordable and sustainable access to prescription medications and pharmacy services that optimize health in our community. Most of all, we will provide hope, often at very dark times.

The mission of Pharmacy of Grace (POG) is to improve access to prescription medication for uninsured and underinsured individuals and to increase the number of prescription medications, many times at no cost, available to vulnerable populations in Kansas.


Position Summary

The Development Manager advances Pharmacy of Grace's institutional fundraising by managing grants, foundation and corporate funding relationships, and strategic sponsorship opportunities. This position leads the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research and qualification through proposal development, award administration, compliance, reporting, and renewal. The Development Manager works across departments to translate organizational priorities, program outcomes, and financial needs into compelling funding requests that support Pharmacy of Grace's mission and responsible growth.

The Development Manager works closely with the Senior Director of Development and Community Outreach and collaborates with the Stewardship Manager. The Stewardship Manager leads individual donor stewardship, gift processing, acknowledgements, donor database integrity, annual giving administration, donor communications, recognition activities, and donor appreciation events. The Development Manager focuses on institutional funders and does not duplicate ownership of those stewardship functions.


Responsibilities
 

  • Manage Pharmacy of Grace's institutional grant portfolio, including the funding pipeline, application calendar, active awards, reporting requirements, restrictions, compliance obligations, renewals, and funding histories.
  • Research, identify, qualify, and prioritize foundation, corporate, healthcare, government, and other institutional funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, renewal requests, sponsorship requests, budgets, narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with institutional funders through timely communication, meetings, site visits, presentations, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Collaborate with program, pharmacy, finance, operations, and administrative staff to gather accurate budgets, program data, patient stories, outcome measures, and organizational information for proposals and reports.
  • Prepare timely interim, final, and renewal reports that demonstrate impact, accountability, financial stewardship, and alignment with funder requirements.
  • Review award agreements and communicate grant restrictions, deliverables, reporting schedules, and documentation requirements to the appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate with the Business Manager and accounting team to support accurate tracking of restricted grant revenue and expenditures.
  • Maintain accurate institutional funder and grant records in Little Green Light and shared files, including prospects, applications, awards, deadlines, reports, correspondence, and relationship activity.
  • Develop and monitor grant revenue projections, pipeline activity, success rates, renewal rates, and other institutional fundraising measures for leadership reporting and planning.
  • Identify and develop corporate sponsorship and institutional partnership opportunities that provide financial or in kind support for Pharmacy of Grace's mission.
  • Represent Pharmacy of Grace at funder meetings, grant briefings, healthcare coalitions, and selected community or business events where institutional funding or strategic partnership opportunities may be developed.
  • Support special fundraising initiatives as assigned, with primary responsibility for the institutional funding, grant, or sponsorship components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Collaboration with the Stewardship Manager
 

  • Share institutional award information and relationship activity needed for coordinated acknowledgement, recognition, and reporting.
  • Coordinate the use of donor stories, impact information, and stewardship materials while respecting confidentiality and communication standards.
  • Refer individual donor stewardship, gift processing, acknowledgements, donor record maintenance, annual giving administration, and donor appreciation activities to the Stewardship Manager.
  • Partner on activities involving both institutional funders and individual donors while maintaining clear responsibility for each audience and workstream.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, institutional giving, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, grant management, and funder relationship development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex programs and outcomes clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong project management, research, planning, and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret grant requirements, develop project budgets, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain complete documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with program, operations, finance, leadership, and external partners.
  • Experience with donor management systems, grant databases, or CRM software preferred.
  • Ability to represent Pharmacy of Grace professionally in funder, healthcare, community, and business settings.
