Job Title: Development Operations Manager
Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Job Summary: The Development Operations Manager is an integral part of a dynamic and effective fundraising team. He/she/they will work closely with and report to the Chief Development Officer. The Manager will be responsible for all gift processing and fulfillment for the Company. In addition, the Manager will be charged with database management and serve as primary CRM (Tessitura) power user for the Development department as well as provide administrative support as needed to the development department, including preparations for events and performances.

- To make Lyric Opera of Kansas City indispensable to the public through transformational opera experiences and broad service which captures the hearts and minds of our communities.
- Adhere to the Ethics and Principles of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in all development activities.
- Adhere to all tax guidelines for 501(c) 3 organizations in all development activities.
- Understand the objectives of the development department and possess the ability to clearly communicate.
- Create and foster an environment that encourages donors to participate with the Company through donations, volunteering, auxiliary support, or in-kind services.
- Maintain confidentiality of donors.
- Maintain and present a positive attitude with public, donors and staff.

Gift Processing, Fulfillment and Database Management
- Serve as the lead gift processor and recordkeeper by entering all received donations and pledges from a variety of donation sources, i.e., online, telefunding, mail appeals, etc. and precisely track gift details.
- Maintain and process monthly pledge payments and reminders.
- Manage and implement the timely preparation of donor gift acknowledgements.
- Develop and track benefit fulfillment for annual fund and corporate relations.
- Serve on the Consortium Data Standards Committee with the Senior Manager of Ticketing and Patron Services to represent the Company.
- Manage the documentation of donor experiences and interactions in Tessitura, as well as implement and manage the creation of the moves management functionality while supporting the Development team in their plans and portfolio needs.
- Create and maintain reports and lists needed to track performance, monitor trends, and inform strategic decisions.
- Create and maintain the development campaigns and structure in Tessitura in coordination with the Finance Department for correct reporting and reconciliation.
- Serve as the department liaison to the Finance team regarding monthly reconciliations, audit preparation, and general development accounting duties.
- Assist the CDO and create, analyze, and distribute monthly strategic and management dashboards.
Development Department Events Support:
- Manage the Donor Reception Suite, providing regular reports outlining expected guests and coordinate needs with Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts Events department for food/beverage ordering during main stage performances.
- Attend all performances and events, providing excellent customer service and a welcoming demeanor

Work Environment: Work is a combination of general office duties, as well as attending fundraising and other Company events. While much of work occurs in relation to a long-term plan, individual will be required to be flexible to changing priorities and additional projects that can require overtime. Employee must have the ability to manage short term deadlines.
Physical Demands: A portion of the work is of a sedentary nature sitting at a desk, but filing and other duties are required. This will require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary. Must have the ability to lift 15 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Regular working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Work requires attendance at opera performances and other Company events. These events may occur outside of regular working hours.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, marketing, public administration, or closely related field.
- At least one year of experience in fundraising, office administration, or business development.
Performance Measures:
The following are key items that will be utilized to evaluate performance of the work and will become part of this position’s annual performance evaluation document:
- Success in maintaining accuracy of database records.
- Accuracy of fundraising reports.
- Ability to interact with and provide support to Development Department staff.
