Director of Development

Posted: 01/21/2025

Bra Couture KC’s mission is to raise funds to provide care for uninsured/ underinsured cancer patients in the greater Kansas City area and to address healthcare disparity issues in underserved communities.

BCKC has raised over $5M in 14 years and supports seven (7) different cancer centers, most of which are physically located within local hospitals.  Currently BCKC raises funds with an annual event held in the Grand Ballroom that sells out at 1200 patrons with KC Chiefs, Royals and other celebrities on the runway with cancer survivors wearing amazing fashion designs.  The BCKC April, 2024 event raised $652,000.

The Director of Fund Development will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, grant applications, planned giving, and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with Executive Leadership and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies.

This is a new position and an opportunity for an experienced fund developer to create their own strategies for a new revenue stream for Bra Couture KC.  This will allow the organization to expand into more hospitals (current opportunity is to expand into three new hospitals), increase fund distribution to our current recipients and to address the expanding needs for both men and women uninsured cancer patients.  Example:  BCKC will expand our gas card program specifically for rural  uninsured cancer patients who cannot afford gas to travel to a suburban hospital for care.   Most of the patients we serve are at or 200% below the Federal Poverty Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
  • Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors. Work closely with the annual BCKC Event planners to collaborate on ways to retain and increase sponsorships, attendance and revenue.

  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership and Board to develop fundraising strategies and goals.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Seek grant opportunities that are closely aligned with the goals of the BCKC organization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, grant awards, and special events.
