Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA), a distinguished K-12 Jewish Day School, seeks a dynamic Director of Philanthropy to lead and drive our fundraising efforts. Key Qualifications

  • Proven success in annual and endowment campaign execution, with a track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – a self-starter who can develop new opportunities, lead boldly, and navigate complex donor relationships with finesse.
  • Strong leadership skills, comfortable as a hands-on practitioner and a strategic visionary, guiding a small team to success.
  • Expertise in working within a philanthropic community, with deep knowledge of donor engagement, stewardship, and relationship building.
  • Experience in planning and managing events of all sizes, from intimate donor meetings to large-scale community events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Annual Campaign Leadership: Design, implement, and manage the annual giving program, from donor communication and solicitation to stewardship, ensuring we meet or exceed our $2 million annual goal.
  • Endowment Campaign Execution: Collaborate with the Endowment Steering Committee to develop a strategic endowment campaign plan, solicit major gifts, and oversee all donor cultivation and tracking aspects.
  • Major Gifts Solicitation: Take the lead on securing contributions and crafting compelling cases for support that resonate with high-net-worth individuals and organizations.
  • Grant Oversight: Manage the full cycle of grant writing, submission, and reporting while actively pursuing new funding opportunities that align with HBHA’s mission.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Partner closely with the Head of School and administrative team to align development goals with school priorities. Supervise a Senior Philanthropy Associate and Database Coordinator to ensure seamless operations.
  • Community Engagement: Actively cultivate relationships within the Jewish community and Greater Kansas City’s philanthropic landscape to expand HBHA’s visibility and donor base.
