Individual Gifts Manager

KC Shepherd's Center (KCSC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 1972 to empower mid-life and older adults to live healthy, engaged and independent lives. KCSC provides services to help these adults age successfully in-place, remain engaged in their community and continue learning. The successful candidate will advance the mission of the organization while providing overall management of individual and corporate donations, marketing and volunteer relations.
The Individual Gift Manager maintains and enhances relationships with a portfolio of major donors and potential donors to develop major gift opportunities, acquire new gifts, increase giving amounts and retain support.  The role involves developing engagement opportunities, building strong rapport with donors, fundraising and collaborating with development team.
Reports to Executive Director - Full time, salary-exempt
Responsibilities:

  • Donor Management and Stewardship: Manage a portfolio of major donors, engaging them through personalized communications strategies, including donor acknowledgements, impact reports, and stewardship updates.  Develop stewardship plan focused on retention-based philanthropy to deepen donor relationships and encourage increased contributions.
  • Communications and Engagement: Execute a communications strategy to cover all donor interactions. Craft emails, proposals, and presentations tailored to major donors.  Engage with donors to ensure they feel connected and valued. Develop relationships with the members of KCSC Board of Directors.  Engage board members in the cultivation and stewardship of perspective and active donors.
  • Fundraising and Development: Design a robust donor pipeline that prioritizes acquisition, retention, and growth ensuring the support and advancement of our mission fulfillment efforts. Work towards meeting and exceeding individuals fund raising goals. Monitor and report on key program metrics and goals.
  • Database and Record Keeping: Utilize data-driven insights to analyze donor behavior, refine segmentation, and develop tailored engagement strategies that foster long-term commitment and donor loyalty. Ensure all donor interactions are accurately tracked and documented in donor database.  Maintain donor data to ensure accuracy and transparency of interactions across development team.

Supervisory Duties:  This position supervises volunteers.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Successful experience in individual and major gift fund raising in the KC philanthropic community preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, specifically regarding data management and its strategic use in decision-making and planning.
  • Experience with a fund-raising CRM system; database knowledge of Little Green Light preferred.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing various projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively represent the organization when speaking to funders, volunteers and the general public.
  • Analytical and strategic skills: detailed focused; demonstrated record of meeting goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, work independently, and collaborate positively with others.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze key metrics and trends to guide fundraising decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups in a culturally competent manner.
  • Ability to connect with populations of all ages. 
  • Ease in adaptation to new technology.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must pass the background check.
