MIDDLE & UPPER SCHOOL SPANISH FACULTY - 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Barstow School of Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a skilled, passionate and collaborative individual for a middle and upper school world language faculty position in Spanish. Reporting to the Director of Upper School, this faculty member would teach Spanish classes from novice to intermediate level in grades 6-12. Successful applicants will have significant education experience and the ability to adapt to a quickly evolving dynamic school on multiple campuses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Plan and execute lessons for Spanish classes from beginner to 1-3 years of language experience.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents and school community members through both written and spoken communication.
• Demonstrate skill with a variety of methods to engage different learners in a block schedule of eighty-minute classes. 
• Manage grading, assignments and feedback using the school’s learning management system and a variety of technology-infused tools.
• Welcome the opportunity to utilize multiple school campuses, the main campus, along with IDEA Space, Barstow’s new and innovative STEAM center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & NECESSARY SKILLS

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

• Considerable experience teaching world languages and Spanish to middle and upper school students, preferably in an independent school setting. 
• A bachelor's degree in Spanish or education, preferably a masters degree.
• Comfort using technology devices and web systems to inform instruction.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to express themselves effectively to community members.
• Willingness to be agile in planning and collaborative with other faculty members.
