The Executive Director is responsible for strategic planning and the development of short & long range objectives, policies and operating plans and budgets of Seton Center. Establishes an organization hierarchy and delegates limits of authority to management regarding policies, contractual commitments, expenditures and personnel matters. Represents the organization to the community served including industry groups, representatives of government, health and social service agencies, regulatory agencies, individual donors and foundations. In accordance with sound principles of management, the ED is held accountable for the execution of the philosophy, mission, directives, objectives and initiatives set forth by the Board of Trustees and Ascension Health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confers with the Center’s Board of Trustees and Ascension Health management to plan operational objectives, develop organizational budgets and policies, coordinate functions and operations between service organizations, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and maintains overall responsibility for the operation of the Center to include culture, quality of patient and client service, public and government relations, prioritization of strategic initiatives and projects, communications, financial management, facility management, philanthropy, staff and team building / development.
- Provides oversight of all programs and services including a dental clinic, food pantry, clothing closet, emergency assistance and behavioral health services. Ensures high quality care in alignment with Ascension policies and all state and local requirements.
- Promotes and represents the Center in working with church, public, community, government, business and professional organizations and associations and regulatory agencies. Provides leadership on local, state and federal issues as they relate to client services and organizational objectives.
- Responsible for identifying service needs and establishing working relationships with local providers of health, social, religious and educational services. Provide leadership in establishing priorities and in initiating the development of community based strategic alliances, partnerships and networks as appropriate in order to implement community wide solutions and achieve quality service results.
- Provides leadership preserving the quality, legality and ethical standards of all Center services. Institutes continuous improvement programs and compliance initiatives as appropriate.
- Insures operational compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulation. Maintains appropriate professional credentialing, including licensing, insurance requirements and accreditation standards as appropriate.
- Directs and coordinates the formulation of fundraising programs to provide financial stability for new or continuing operations and to maximize the services provided to the community. In coordination with the Development Director, develops and leverages relationships with current and potential funders.
- The ED is responsible for staying current on federal, state and local initiatives that may enhance or impact the funding of services to the poor and vulnerable.
- Executes the development of Center policies and procedures. Assumes overall responsibility for the staffing, supervision, compensation, development and employment relations of the organization.
- Evaluates performance of the Center management team for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Ascension Health
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct managers who supervise employees in Finance, Social Services, Dental Services, Behavioral Health, Administration / Human Resources, Operations, Mission Integration, Volunteer Management and Fundraising/Development. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Directly supervises non-supervisory employees, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum qualifications stated.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Prefer education concentrated in Health and/or Social Services Administration, Business Administration or related degree.
7+ years of progressive administrative experience in a health and/or human service organization. Understanding dental clinic operations and management along with behavioral health services is strongly preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
