One City Café Assistant
 
Employment Status: Part-Time/PRN non-exempt (8-24 hours per week, depending on availability and department schedule), shift is 10 am to 6:30 pm with 30 min unpaid lunch. Located at 39th/Troost in KC, MO
Reports to: Director of Operations & Outreach

Position Overview
The One City Café Assistant is responsible for ensuring that One City Cafe operates efficiently and hospitably during meal service. This includes preparing items, cleaning equipment/spaces, and thinking strategically about how service will be carried out.
 
Front of House Operations
  • Manages all front of house operations related to One City Cafe during lunch and dinner service
  • Ensures One City Cafe is efficiently set-up for guests
  • Maintains food safety standards
  • Cleans front of house areas utilizing a daily checklist
  • Works with the Director of Operations & Outreach to address any security concerns
  • Contributes to new processes that ensure guest/volunteer safety
  • Explains One City Cafe processes and provide brief training and onboarding for first-time volunteers
  • Ensures that volunteers feel equipped to carry out their volunteer duties in an efficient and hospitable manner
  • Maintains a weekly inventory of needed items
  • Reports any security, food safety or guest related concerns immediately to the Food Program Director

Volunteer Management
  • Ensures a safe, fun and productive work environment for volunteers
  • Maintains positive relationships with volunteers and donors
  • Gives volunteers agency information so that they become invested in the agency’s mission
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of volunteer management preferred, but not required.
  • 1-3 years of restaurant experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy skills.
  • Be able to work with a diversity of people, both guests and volunteers that come from multiple backgrounds and being fair to all.
  • Able to be on your feet for a long period of time.
  • Desire to serve others with dignity and respect, as that is paramount to the Bishop Sullivan Center mission.

Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $17/hr.
