Job Overview:
The KCHBA is seeking a motivated and strategic-minded Membership Manager to join the team. This role will be pivotal in driving the growth and retention of the membership base, playing a key role in shaping the organization’s composition. The Membership Manager will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact by implementing sales and marketing strategies to attract new member members, enhance engagement, and strengthen relationships in the community. This role requires excellent time management and communication skills with a strong commitment to the mission of the association. Some evenings and weekends are also required due to events the KCHBA hosts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute membership acquisition and retention plans to drive growth and engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing members to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve budgeted revenue goals for membership and retention.
- Identify and cultivate new leads and prospects through targeted outreach phone calls, in-person meetings, networking, and strategic partnerships.
- Oversee new member onboarding and conduct periodic New Member Orientations.
- Serve as the staff liaison for the Membership Committee, identifying and onboarding new committee members.
- Collaborate with the Events & Partnerships Manager to assist in promoting KCHBA events to drive attendance and engagement.
- Work with the Events & Partnerships Manager to identify and expand non-dues revenue sources to support our mission through sponsorships, partnerships and increased engagement.
- Attend and participate in Communications Team meetings to ensure alignment in all communications and strategy conducted by the KCHBA staff.
- Attend KCHBA events to engage with members and outside events to proactively recruit members.
- Attend KCHBA committee meetings to stay informed on issues impacting the industry.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records by logging in all communications with current and prospective members in the association CRM.
- Develop methods for engaging new and long-standing members, ensuring retention, timely billing and follow-up.
- Support past-due account collections in coordination with the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- 3+ years proven experience in sales, business development or fundraising.
- Experience working with volunteers, organizational stakeholders (members, board of directors, community leaders) and/or trade/association organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems; social media knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent customer service, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with strong attention details and desire to succeed and exceed goals.
