Manager of Organizational Operations

Heart and Hand Ministries works to break cycles of poverty by providing resources for immediate needs while engaging people in programs and services designed to promote fiscal stability and self-sufficiency.

We do this through robust programs in Food Services, Homeless Services, and general Social Services. We serve the south loop of the KC metro area and beyond with our primary facilities located in the Belton-Raymore area.  

Section 1: Overview and Scope of Position

In partnership with the Executive Director, this position will be the point person for operational logistics for the organization at large as well as our programs, both current and in-development. The successful candidate will possess a wide range of operational skills and experiences, possess strong problem solving skills, as well as be well-versed in building systems. This could be an Operations Manager role or COO role depending on the candidate. 

Section 2: Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree or trade school graduate required.  Masters in related field preferred. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in supervisory position in an operations management, project management or related field. 3-4+ years' experience preferred  
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft products, Constant Contact, Canva, and operations management software preferred.  
  • Valid driver license required.
Section 3: Responsibilities/Duties

Leadership and Organizational Management:
  • Operate in managerial capacity as the point person for logistical needs of programs in concert with organizational priorities. 
  • Work closely with Executive Director to implement organizational priorities for programs and personnel.
  • Be the on-site manager ready to respond to operational and personnel issues as they arise. 
  • Take a lead role in assigned projects, specifically around organizational infrastructure: communications, website, software, administrative documents and otherwise as needed
  • Provide support and leadership for “all hands-on deck” events: fundraisers, outreach events, etc. 
Communications & Marketing 
  • Lead and produce marketing materials for organization and thrift store in Constant Contact 
  • Manage communications in social media channels producing graphic and video content 
  • Assist with design and production of newsletter as well as email campaigns for events, donor engagement, etc.
  • Work with graphic designer in website upgrade in design and integrative functions website for these programs.
  • Manage IT needs for Program Center & Thrift Store: computers, networks, printers, and internet accounts
Interim Volunteer Coordinator
  • Work with ED and staff to streamline volunteer manager role and maintain this role until we are able to hire the right employee to over this position. 
  • Recruit volunteers utilizing relational networks, volunteer organizations, and church partners, including being on site for occasional recruitment campaigns. 
  •  Maintain volunteer software account, process new applicants, and develop orientation training for new volunteers
  •  Pursue and respond to group service projects: setting tasks, purchasing supplies, set up for group, work with group on projects, and insure clean up after group leaves.

Facilities & Property Management 

  • Coordinate logistics for major event-based programs including venue planning, production logistics, and related operational tasks
  • Be point person for all vendor relationships and contracts: major systems & property maintenance
  • Oversee vehicles and keep in good, working condition
  • Maintain personal property vis-a-vis inventory system, equipment check-in & check-out
  • Develop facilities & maintenance volunteer team to handle much of this work for the organization.
Section 5: Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Regular hours Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm at our Program Center building and Thrift Store
  • Nights/weekends required on rare occasions.  
  • Much of the work is typically performed in an interior temperature-controlled office work environment.
  • Position requires both prolonged periods of sitting at a computer as well as actively executing operational tasks at the program center building as well as occasionally at our thrift store or warehouse. 
  • Some of the work will require loading and unloading boxes to/from our box truck, ability to lift between 50-70 lbs. occasionally is required. 

Section 6: Compensation

Salary Range: $40,000 – $60,000 based on experience
