Grants Manager

  1. Identifies, researches, qualifies, writes and submits all grant proposals.
  2. Manages an active and growing portfolio of private, family, and corporate foundation grants, with a focus on prospects at $2500-$10,000
  3. Assists the CDO in managing a portfolio of high value grant prospects at $10,000+.
  4. Maintains an updated program needs list for potential grant proposals and future requests.
  5. Actively researches and networks to discover new funding sources and information to support the application, coordinating program information from program staff, and creating persuasive, grammatically correct, and cohesive grant proposals
  6. Maintains the annual grant calendar that contains deadlines for all grant submissions, including LOl's, proposals, and reports.
  7. Develops strong relationships with local and regional funders and coordinates meetings with the CDO, CEO, and Board members as needed.
  8. Works closely with the CDO to anticipate and plan for current and future funding needs: capital projects, major expenditures, new staffing, etc.
  9. Collaborates with the CDO, CEO, directors, and program staff to understand current and upcoming funding needs and opportunities to secure grant funding.
  10. Submits timely grant reports as required by funders. Coordinates with Nancy to ensure acknowledgment/gratitude letters are submitted. 
  11. Manages all grant expenditures monthly and monitors restricted funds.
  12. Continually communicates with funders to ensure strong relationships and compliance with grant requirements.
  13. Collaborate with program staff to keep them apprised of current grant requirements.
  14. Assists with agency audits and setting the agency budget.
  15. Remain abreast of best practices and emerging trends in grant research, writing and management. 
  16. Attends grant management training and growth opportunities.
  17. Attends all agency functions, special events and meetings, as necessary.
  18. Remains abreast of issues related to child abuse and neglect.
 
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
  1. Coordinates grant funding budgets, tracks grant expenditures, and monthly financial reports
  2. Maintains current agency information and updates the CPC profile and financial information on CANDID and other grant-related profiles.
  3. Works with accountant to update financial spreadsheets as grants are approved.
  4. Assists with agency audits and preparing the agency budget.
  5. Maintains appropriate confidentiality for agency clients and donors, as well as for overall agency finances, personnel, and operations.
 
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:
  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  2. Able to take action to achieve goals beyond what is required.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate to individual donors, corporations, foundation staff, the CDO, and President and CEO.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to all funders, donors, volunteers, Board Members, team members and systems.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field. 
  2. Experience in non-profit fund raising with demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and leading efforts that increase support from foundations, corporations, and government grants.
  3. Excellent working knowledge of development techniques including, but not limited to, grant writing, corporate and foundation solicitations, and special events. 
  4. Good knowledge and understanding of Kansas City’s community resources and services. 
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. 
  6. Knowledge of grant database management software. 
  7. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, mission-driven and extremely motivated.
 
 Pay range: $65,000-$75,000
