Position Overview
Journey to New Life is seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapist to support women rebuilding their lives after incarceration. This position plays a critical role in providing trauma-informed, person-centered mental health care to residents in our women’s reentry housing program. The therapist will provide individual and group therapy while also supporting the growth of our Peer Support Specialists through training in effective group facilitation.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services and Therapeutic Support
- Provide individual therapy services to residents reentering the community after incarceration, addressing trauma, mental health stabilization, substance use recovery, emotional wellness, and adjustment to community living.
- Conduct clinical assessments and develop person-centered treatment plans that align assessment findings, therapeutic goals, and service documentation.
- Deliver services using evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches appropriate for justice-involved populations.
- Facilitate therapeutic group sessions focused on emotional regulation, recovery support, coping skills, relapse prevention, relationship building, and overall mental wellness.
- Support integration of clinical concepts into existing life skills and recovery programming within the residences.
- Provide consultation and training to Peer Support Specialists on trauma-informed engagement, group facilitation skills, professional boundaries, and appropriate responses to behavioral health concerns.
- Support development of effective peer-led support groups within the residences.
- Assist staff in recognizing signs of mental health distress and provide guidance on de-escalation strategies and stabilization planning.
- Maintain structured, timely, and consistent clinical documentation that reflects congruence between assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery.
- Ensure documentation supports diagnoses when applicable and aligns with quality and audit expectations.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and maintain a person-centered, trauma-informed approach in all services.
- Participate in required reporting processes and ensure audited service units match reported billing requirements.
- Maintain licensure and supervision requirements consistent with service delivery standards.
- Utilize valid and reliable assessment tools to measure clinical and functional change in response to treatment.
- Follow formal procedures for assessment administration and data collection.
- Use outcome data to inform treatment planning, service delivery, and program improvement.
- Contribute to evaluation of participant progress and overall program effectiveness.
- Participate in planned and systematic quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Support fidelity to trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice models.
- Assist in communicating quality indicators internally to leadership and staff and externally to funders and regulators as required.
- Utilize service data, client outcomes, utilization trends, and participant feedback to inform program and service improvements.
- Work collaboratively with case management staff, peer support specialists, residence leadership, and other Journey to New Life staff to ensure integrated and coordinated care for residents.
- Support continuity of care through collaboration with external providers, treatment agencies, and community partners when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Commitment to the mission of Journey to New Life
- Must adhere to the agency’s non-discrimination policy and effectively interact with coworkers and residents from diverse background.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health field
- Current Missouri licensure (LCSW, LPC, or equivalent clinical license)
- Experience providing individual and group therapy services
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and recovery oriented service model
- Ability to work effectively with justice involved or high barrier populations

Work Environment
- Services are delivered within two women’s residential recovery homes serving individuals transitioning from incarceration
- Position includes individual therapy, group facilitation, staff consultation, and program collaboration
- Flexible scheduling may be required to meet resident needs
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: $60-70,000 depending on experience
