HappyBottoms is Kansas City’s Diaper Bank. Founded in 2009, HappyBottoms collaborates with the community to empower, connect and impact families by alleviating diaper need. We keep families supplied with diapers every month, so moms & dads are not stressed about taking care of this basic need. Job Purpose/Objective
The Volunteer Manager is a member of the Volunteer team, within the Operations team and is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, training, and recognizing individual and group volunteers. This role maintains close ties with volunteers to keep them interested and invested in HappyBottoms mission and to provide appropriate and strategic volunteer placements for all department needs.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team, reporting to the Co-Executive & Chief Operating Officer, working with program, warehouse and development staff to support HappyBottoms Community Diaper Distribution Program.
Essential Functions:
- Recruit and schedule individual and group volunteers for all HappyBottoms volunteer needs, including diaper package processing, community outreach events, data entry and special events.
- Manage volunteer shifts, including training volunteers on assigned tasks and the use of the strapping and wrapping equipment.
- Maintain accurate volunteer opportunity information and volunteer records.
- Recognize volunteers through internal and external volunteer recognition events, award nominations, social media, newsletters, etc.
- Cross train and provide direct support as needed for mobile wraps, diaper order fulfillment and deliveries and donation pickups.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Volunteer management experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Strong organization and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines within a team environment.
- Strong computer literacy, primarily in Excel, Word, Google Docs, and MS365 Teams. Experience with CERVIS a plus.
- Valid driver’s license for local travel (Kansas City metropolitan area).
- Ability to learn and operate warehouse equipment (manual or electric pallet jack).
- Willing to learn, complete annual DOT driver requirements and drive HappyBottoms van and small box truck.
- Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
- Evenings and weekends required
