Job Title: Volunteer Program Manager

Work Location: Remote – Must live in, or be willing to locate to, one of the following states: MO, KS, IN, NJ, VA, PA, TN, GA, MS, TX or FL. 

Work Schedule: The typical work week is forty (40) hours. During periods of high activity (i.e., during OBR deployments and events), the position requires working during evenings and weekends. This position requires travel. Throughout the year, you can be required to travel for up to 14 consecutive days. Travel is a mandatory requirement of having this position. 

Compensation

$55,000 to $70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package included.

Position Summary: Support OBR programs department (Disaster and Non-Disaster) and support day-to-day business operations. Manage the Area Coordinators/Regional Directors (AC/DC) Program to promote local community support and program growth. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Integrate all aspects of the OBR way into day-to-day operations, mentoring and developing the department on the OBR Way.
  • Supervise up to 3 personnel as a Manager.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff in the department.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for personnel assigned.

Essential Functions:

Program Strategy & Development

  • Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan for the AC/RD program, setting clear goals for expansion, community integration, and response capability.
  • Support disaster and non-disaster programmatic and operational planning.
  • Work with supervisors to develop contingency plans; identify potential problems, troubleshoot, escalate issues to the executive team, and participate in post-event analysis to provide input for future procedural improvements.
  • Identify and recommend new program opportunities or service delivery models that align with the OBR mission.

Volunteer Management & Stakeholder Relations

  • Manage the development, education, and training of the Area Coordinators and Regional Directors (AC/RD).
  • Design and implement a comprehensive volunteer engagement and retention strategy for the AC/RD roles.
  • Promote the use, contribution of content, and adoption of OBR University and the OBR Way.
  • Supervise and manage the AC/RD team as they interact with local Emergency Management and state VOAD in their communities.
  • Ensure all messaging is on par with best practices and OBR needs and capabilities.
  • Cultivate and maintain high-level strategic partnerships with state-level VOADs, key corporate partners, and other regional or national emergency management agencies.

Deployments & Field Operations

  • Deploy to OBR Disaster Sites in support of feeding operations.
  • Attend non-disaster events as a subject matter expert and provide hands-on support.
  • Serve as Site Lead, or other official position, at disaster and non-disaster deployments and events as required.
  • Assist the Disaster Response Team with the process of personnel rostering for disasters and manning for events, collaborating directly with disaster and programs leadership.
  • Oversee a regional asset management plan, ensuring all vehicles, trailers, and specialized equipment are maintained, inventoried, and in a constant state of readiness in cooperation with the Ops team.
  • Assist in ensuring site safety during events and deployments.

Administration, Finance & Reporting

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the AC/RD program, including travel, equipment, training, and operational expenses.
  • Track and report on programmatic spending, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Establish, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the AC/RD program (e.g., volunteer engagement, response times, training completions, OBR Presentations, etc).
  • Analyze deployment data to identify trends and provide detailed after-action reports to senior leadership.
  • Assist the development team by providing programmatic data and impact stories to support grant applications and donor relations.
  • Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to, expense submissions, paperwork, forms, company-assigned trainings, and document reviews.
  • Work with supervisor to complete employee evaluations as assigned.

General & Internal Collaboration

  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other organization personnel to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Attend and participate in all necessary OBR meetings, Webex, and conference calls.
