Odin George Foundation to be honored at Saturday’s KC Current match with Olivia Bloomfield Legacy Seat

KANSAS CITY, MO — The Olivia Bloomfield Foundation will recognize the transformative work of the Odin George Foundation during this Saturday’s home match on August 30, as part of the KC Current’s ongoing commitment to celebrating individuals and organizations making impactful contributions to inclusion, accessibility, and community upliftment.

Born with congenital muscular dystrophy, Olivia believed that all children should have the same opportunities and championed the construction of inclusive playgrounds across Kansas City and beyond. Ideated after her passing in 2022, the Olivia Bloomfield Legacy Seating honors the unsung heroes whose service provides a unique and valuable contribution toward making our communities and the world more accessible and inclusive for all.

During the pre-game festivities, Co-founder Mark Buser will be honored with the Olivia Bloomfield Legacy Seat — a symbol of recognition for unsung heroes of the Kansas City community. The Legacy Seat, established in memory of disability advocate Olivia Bloomfield, is reserved each home game to celebrate those who quietly yet powerfully make the world a better place.

Since its humble beginning in 2023, the Odin George Foundation has served children with complex medical needs during their lifetimes and beyond, while also supporting the families and caregivers. The founders – Mark Buser and Courtney Symes-Buser, lost their little warrior on July 7, 2023, and made it their mission to help families on similar journeys by sharing Odin’s delightful smile through providing specialized equipment – like WonderFoldWagons, P pod chairs and adaptive trikes – that enhance opportunities and quality of life for children and families. The foundation also has assisted with funeral expenses for nine families to ease some of the burden at a time of profound loss, and has supplied treats to the tireless health care workers who support these children and families.

Last month, in cooperation with Rockhurst University students and staff and Switched Adaptive Toys, the Odin George Foundation helped to adapt 50 toys with buttons and switches that make play and fun more accessible for all. These toys will be delivered to local schools and Children’s Mercy clinics. Fans will have the opportunity to learn more about the Odin George Foundation during the game.

Join us this Saturday as the Current take on North Carolina’s Courage at CPKC Stadium and help us honor the legacy, vision, and service of one of our community’s quiet champions.
