October was one for the books at Welcome House. From haunted attractions to fireside meetings, we packed in a full lineup of activities that brought the guys together with family, friends and community. We kicked off the season by heading for some Halloween fun, where we got our fair share of scares. A huge thanks to Zombie Purge for an unforgettable night—dodging zombies isn’t something we’ll forget anytime soon!
We balanced out the thrills with fireside meetings, taking some time to connect and talk about the stuff that matters. There’s something about a good fire, good people, and a bit of time away from the daily grind that brings a sense of calm and focus. We even carved pumpkins, diving into a Halloween tradition and having some laughs while showing off our pumpkin artistry.
Welcome House was out into the community this month, participating in the Missouri Credentialing Boards' Peer Summit. It was a chance to connect with others in recovery, share what Welcome House is all about, and bring more awareness to our program.
For those who wanted to stretch their legs, we hit the trails, hiking through the changing leaves and fall air—a reminder of the power of being out in nature, away from it all. And to wrap up the month, we hosted a barbecue with family, friends, and plenty of food on the grill. It was a day packed with laughter, good eats, and gratitude for the people we’ve got by our side.
October showed us how to work hard, play hard, and enjoy the moments we have together. As we move into November, let’s bring that same energy into the new season.
Here’s to more moments, more connection, and more ways to keep building a stronger recovery community in Kansas City!
