501(c) Success: Giving USA Report with Dr. Patrick Rooney

For more than 60 years, nonprofit leaders, fundraisers and donors have relied on the comprehensive giving data in Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy. The research in this annual report estimates all giving to charitable organizations across the United States. This session will analyze how the pandemic affected giving in 2020 and what it means for the future of fundraising.

Dr. Patrick Rooney shares that coveted first look at giving data for 2020 and provides critical observations and interpretations about the state of philanthropy in the United States post COVID. Dr. Rooney is the Executive Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. We're pleased to welcome back Dr. Rooney for the 16th year in a row to share the Giving USA report and national trends on philanthropy.

Patrick M. Rooney, Ph.D., is the Executive Associate Dean for Academic Programs; Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He is a nationally recognized expert on philanthropy and charitable giving and speaks frequently across the country on issues related to philanthropy and management of nonprofit organizations. 

Full participation in this training is also applicable for 1 point in Category 1.B - Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
