Running of the Beds

Running of the Beds is a bed race and community festival hosted by Flourish, Kansas City’s only furniture bank, that will raise support to provide free beds for 1,500 families. Get ready to rev up the bed wheels because Flourish’s second-annual Running of the Beds race will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the Summit Church in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Flourish is Kansas City’s only non-profit furniture bank. Running of the Beds is free to attend. Registration is free, but teams are asked to fundraise $500 or more. Teams receive a customizable fundraising page. Register a team: https://flourishfurniturebank.org/running-of-the-beds-2025/ Kansas City’s Bed Race Teams of 5 will build beds on wheels in the weeks before the event, then race them on an exciting racecourse for fun prizes. The event will kick off with music and games for kids, followed by the race. Bed race teams will raise money for Flourish and its mission to provide ENTIRE home furnishings and essentials for 1,500 Kansas City area families in 2025. Reservations are now open to enter a bed racing team. Spaces are limited, so don’t wait! Family Friendly Festival Fun activities for the whole family will include furniture themed games like pillow fights and mattress toss contests and a kid’s parade of decorated bikes, wagons and more. The event will also include Flourish’s social service agency partners that will provide information and resources to the community. The event is free to attend. About Flourish Flourish is the only organization in Kansas City providing an ENTIRE home of furniture and household essentials such as linens, towels, cookware, kitchen utensils and appliances, home décor and much more to families that have experienced housing instability. Flourish works with 80 social service agencies in Kansas City such as domestic violence shelters and organizations serving kids aging out of foster care, immigrants and refugees, veterans, and individuals that have been unhoused due to eviction or foreclosure and natural disaster. Flourish served 1,302 families in 2024, including 1,757 children in 11 counties in Missouri and Kansas.
