Board Member

URC has served 973 young men in grades 7-12 since our founding in 2005. Ninety-eight (98%) serve are African American and live in high-risk Kansas City neighborhoods which suffer from economic deprivation; high crime and violence rates; availability of drugs; low expectations/aspirations for school; and chronic absenteeism; 76% are from single parent households; 92% from low income households. This program year (June 2022 ? May 2023) we will work with 100 young men.

American Cancer Society Kansas City Board Membership

The American Cancer Society's Kansas City Chairman’s Circle (CC) is intended to provide a diverse executive leadership forum for advancing the our life-saving mission. This advocacy includes assisting ACS staff by promoting program priorities and informing the public about ACS organizational priorities. Chairman’s Circle members will be asked to assist by advancing mission priorities, securing financial support, recognizing key contributors and building relationships with community leaders.

Center for Supportive Communities, an organization dedicated to using behavioral science to create equal opportunities and meaningful change, is searching for skilled professionals and professionals in training to work with elementary, middle, and high school students and their families participating in our SupportED program during the 2022-23 school year. Help us administer assessments, create and implement interventions, and coach parents and teachers on addressing behavioral challenges.

Young visitors guides are specialized volunteers who participate in the museum's child-centered approach to engaging kids and families. Responsibilities staying up-to-date on museum exhibitions and innovative engagement strategies. leading tours and engagement activities for people age 12 and younger (opportunities available in the museum, online, and at classrooms and community centers). Time Commitment: 8 hrs. training + approx. 7 hrs./month
