Summary: The Workforce Coach supports Guadalupe Centers’ Workforce Development & Adult Education Department, a Financial Opportunity Center (FOC), by guiding community members toward career and financial stability. This role recruits participants for training, education, and employment programs; conducts career assessments; and delivers job readiness and advancement strategies. The Workforce Coach also facilitates job placements, supports long-term retention, and connects clients to the FOC’s comprehensive career and financial services.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Workforce Financial Opportunity Center
- Implement core FOC program services in an integrated fashion to prepare a diverse workforce to secure, retain and advance in living wage jobs and careers.
- Conducts income support assessments to develop action plans with program participants and provide tools, resources, support, and accountability to assist in financial goal achievement.
- Assist individuals with obtaining employment and retaining employment through job readiness education, skill building, and retention counseling
- Provide services on a one-on-one coaching format and group education
- Assess workplace skills and marketable experience and strengths,
- Provide oversight of the development of a personalized and professional resume to prepare clients for the job search process, interview process, and hiring process by including resume and cover letter preparation, assisting with job applications, and connecting clients to job opportunities.
- Coaches clients on understanding their monthly finances and implementing a financial plan by assisting them with income assessments, goal setting, budgeting, debt repayment, savings, income support guidance, and banking opportunities
- Provide one-on-one financial counseling and coaching by teaching clients the value of available services and engaging them in long-term relationships.
- Assist clients in resolving immediate financial situations while promoting a proactive approach to overall financial health.
- Conduct detailed financial assessments, document budgets and provide strategies for improvement, access credit reports/scores and provide strategies for credit building, and document balance sheets to identify opportunities for increasing net worth.
- Develop individualized action plans, provide tools and resources, and ensure accountability to help clients meet their financial goals.
- Support identification and access to vocational and educational scholarships
- Participate in weekly and quarterly EOS meetings, quarterly FOC network meetings, and other program/partner-related meetings.
- Participates in ongoing professional development
- Conduct detailed financial assessments, combined financial assessment (CFA), document budgets and provide strategies for improvement, access credit reports/scores and provide strategies for credit building, and document balance sheets to identify opportunities for increasing net worth.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with employer partners, unions, trade associations
Adult Education:
- Conduct financial literacy workshops on topics such as budgeting, credit building, financial aid, predatory lending practices, and banking products, as well as sessions on career development and certifications.
- Conduct public presentations to increase awareness of programming and services including coordinating internal job fairs and participation in external job fairs
- Support the coordination of Workforce FOC and Adult Education program services and activities to ensure the functional success of programs by looking for opportunities to enhance programs through resource identification, networking, and cultivation of collaborative partnerships including; governmental, educational institutions, unions, and private sectors.
Outcome tracking:
- Data collection and evaluation: Collect and record accurate required data from the participants throughout the program, including demographic information, participation/attendance, in CRM platform; Salesforce.
- Maintains monthly and quarterly updates of outcomes and achievements via report preparation using EOS tools such as scorecards, dashboards, etc.

Required Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in business, social work, psychology, education, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work experience, and certifications.
- The applicant should have experience working with low-income families in one or more of the following areas: financial and employment goal setting; budgeting; utilization of financial services; asset development, income support, and workforce readiness.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish, oral and written) required
- Excellent Communication Skills – written and oral, aptitude in a public presentation
- Medium to the expert level in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suits, Internet, and resource savvy.
- Aptitude in interfacing with management information systems, i.e. Salesforce, Paycor, etc
- Ability to work well with community partners (employers, funders, associations, chambers, EDC’s, trade schools, post secondary partners, Unidos, etc)
- Ability to advocate on behalf of the underserved population
- Ability to apply knowledge of social and cultural factors that impact the education, financial, employment, and training of the target population.
- Ability to work in a non-judgmental way with a diverse range of people, maintaining a respectful and inclusive culture.
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as this position requires regular local travel.
- Candidates must be available for limited travel i.e. attendance at out-of-state training
Preferred:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution and significant professional experience( (two to five years).
- A strong understanding of the workforce, income support, financial literacy ,and coaching.
- Previous work experience with the target population, and/or the ability to provide coaching services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment in the community served. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
