Independent Living (IL) Services Director
Location: The Whole Person – Kansas City, MO
Reports To: Chief CIL Officer
Status: Full-Time, Exempt


Position Summary
The Independent Living (IL) Services Director is responsible for the day-to-day management, implementation, and performance of all Independent Living programs at The Whole Person.
This role ensures high-quality service delivery, supervises program staff, maintains compliance with documentation and reporting requirements, and executes the strategic direction established by the Chief CIL Officer.
The Director ensures that all core services are delivered effectively to support individuals with disabilities in achieving independence and community integration.

Essential Functions
Program Management & Service Delivery
  • Oversee daily operations of all Independent Living programs
  • Ensure delivery of core services: Information & Referral, Advocacy, Independent Living Skills Training, Peer Support, and Transitions
  • Monitor program performance and implement improvements as needed
  • Ensure services are accessible, person-centered, and aligned with IL philosophy
Staff Supervision & Development
  • Supervise IL program staff and managers
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management
  • Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and service standards
 
Compliance & Reporting Execution
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in CIL Suite and other systems
  • Lead preparation and submission of required reports (e.g., 704/PPR)
  • Coordinate audits, monitoring visits, and surveys
  • Implement and track corrective action plans as needed
Quality Assurance
  • Monitor service quality and consumer outcomes
  • Ensure data accuracy, goal tracking, and follow-up documentation
  • Maintain program readiness for audits and reviews
Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local service providers and community partners
  • Represent TWP in community meetings and local collaborations
  • Support outreach efforts to expand access to services
Advocacy (Community Level)
  • Support consumer advocacy efforts to ensure access to services and resources
  • Promote independent living principles within the community and service network

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in independent living or disability services
  • Supervisory or program management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IL core services and CIL operations
  • Experience with documentation systems (e.g., CIL Suite) and reporting requirements
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills

Physical Requirements

- Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for advocacy or outreach events.

Salary Range: $75,000 - 99,999
