Board Member
Westport Center for the Arts (Kansas City, MO) is seeking creative and active Board Members to help support our free and low-cost performances and visual arts programs in the community.
Westport Center for the Arts is a nonprofit arts organization based in Kansas City, Missouri. Founded in 2006, WCA aims to create community by putting established or upcoming local artists in front of local audiences. We exist to expand access to the arts and support local creativity in the Kansas City metro through free and low-cost events.

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and prior board experience is helpful but not required. We are particularly interested in individuals with interest or experience in:
Details: Volunteer position only. Board members serve two-year terms with renewal option. Expected minimum time commitment is around 3 hours per month for board meetings and associated preparation, though more active board members are desired

- Attend regular board meetings, typically on the third Saturday of each month (approximately 1.5 hours)
- Serve on committees or take on specific tasks aligned with skills or interests
- Support fundraising efforts through outreach or participation
- Uphold WCA’s mission, values, and commitment to accessible arts programming

- Arts administration
- Nonprofit governance
- Fundraising or finance
- Legal expertise or community advocacy
- Care about supporting local artists, including discovery of upcoming artists
- Are comfortable contributing ideas and asking questions
- Are interested in finding ways to integrate accessibility, equity, sustainability, and other best practices into the operations of a small nonprofit
