JOB SUMMARYThis is a full-time, exempt position. Duties will include providing training opportunities, including those that promote respectful workplace practices and awareness of varied perspectives, acting as a liaison to contracted IT providers, chairing focus group and internal affairs committees, donor relations, providing supervision and staff support as assigned by or in the absence of the Executive Director, and assisting the Executive Director in donor relations, resource development, and other daily operations as assigned. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with the agency’s mission and values.

  1. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Collaborate with the Executive Director, SOS staff, and community allies in streamlining and designing new and innovative programming to assist participants in the SOS programs.
  2. Collaborate with Executive Director and/or their designee to address agency training and professional development.
  3. Collaborate with Executive Director and/or their designee to create professional development programing for community partners and allied professionals.
  4. Acts as liaison between IT services provider and staff, assisting staff with basic technology needs.
  5. Act as chair for the staff focus group to gather staff feedback and recommend improvements to ensure a healthy work environment for staff.
  6. Act as staff liaison to the internal affairs committee.
  7. Be a conduit for a healthy environment for staff.
 
PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Oversee therapeutic services for agency, including non-clinical supervision of therapists, interns, and other therapy support staff.
  2. Oversee adult and child support groups for clients, including non-clinical supervision of staff members assigned to support group duties.
  3. Oversee Citizens Review Board (CRB) program, including supervising any staff assigned to CRB duties.
  4. Provide oversight to supervised staff to comply with their grant goals and objectives.
 
RECORD KEEPING
  • Complete necessary documentation for reporting required for grants or other funders.
  • Maintain complete program and supervision records as necessary, including for all supervised staff members.
 
OTHER
  • Other duties as assigned by the SOS Executive Director, including complying with grant goals and objectives including, but not limited to, informing crime victims of their statutory rights and assisting crime victims in seeking available compensation.
  • It is imperative to practice self-care due to vicarious and secondary trauma staff may incur. Employees are requested and expected to take care of themselves. SOS will assist with wellness tools for group and individual settings.
 
  1. INTERMITTENT DUTIES:
  1. Attend All Staff meetings.
  2. In the absence of the Executive Director, provide supervision and support to staff members.
 
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:
  2. Must possess valid Kansas Driver’s License and auto insurance.
  3. EXPERIENCE: Experience in providing trauma-focused, evidenced-based services to adults, children and families who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse preferred. Leadership and supervision experience are preferred. The Assistant Executive Director position is expected to perform in a satisfactory manner after twelve months on the job.
  4. EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or proven experience required.  Master’s degree in an appropriate or related field desirable.
  5. KNOWLEDGEMust have the ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions. Required to read, write, and speak English fluently with the ability to speak Spanish helpful. 
  6. SKILLS: Proficient level use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, copier, and fax machine; excellent mathematical skills, written and oral communication, people, organization, and time management skills; an ability to maintain confidentiality, along with representing the agency in a positive and professional manner.
  7. Problem Solving: Frequent problem solving occurs in this position. It requires the ability to evaluate alternatives to resolve disputes.
  8. Decision-Making: Frequent situations occur that are outside established policies and procedures and require astute judgment.
  9. Deductive Reasoning: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  10. Inductive Reasoning:  The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  11. Supervisory: Interns, staff, and others as assigned.   
  12. Interpersonal: Frequent contact with other departments, SOS employees, government agencies, and the public. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and as outlined in the SOS Employee Handbook.
  13. Working conditions:  Subject to work after hours on occasions with hours flexed during the same pay period.
    1. PHYSICAL REQUIEMENTS: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. May be assigned to multilevel building with some floors accessible by stairs only. Requirements of moving about the office. Sit approximately 90% of the time. Frequently express ideas by spoken words. Frequently operate equipment requiring moderate ability.
