Development Coordinator

FT-37.5 hour work week.  Flexible schedule.  10 paid holidays, 2 self care days, 2 weeks sick leave, 2 weeks vacation leave, matching 401 (k), health benefits and EAP.

Primary Description:

Serve as an integral part of the development team as the primary donor stewardship and database manager. Manage all aspects of the Annual Golf Tournament, donor database, gift entry, donor acknowledgements, gift-in-kind program, and 3rd Party events. This is an on-site, non-exempt full-time position of 37.5 hours per week. Salary range for this position is $40,000 to $45,000 annually. Compensation will be based on experience. This position reports to the Resource Development Director.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

Special Event Support

  • Provide support for theResource and Development Director and Development Manager for the Annual Gala and other events. 

  • Manage the Annual Fundraising Event (such as a golf tournament): planning, logistics, new sponsor identification and solicitation, engaging current and new sponsors and donors before, during and after the event; Work closely with the Development Manager to create and distribute event materials and external communications to sponsors and recruit event volunteers for the tournament. 

  • Actively identify and solicit Third Party Events in the community to benefit Sunflower House; Provide support and assistance, and foster long-term engagement with Sunflower House.  

  • Manage Legislative Breakfast(s) including invitations, RSVPs, assist with catering and setup.

  • Manage Board of Directors and Donor appreciation events including invitations, RSVPs, securing venues.

  • Meet or exceed established revenue goals for fundraising events. 

 

Gift-in-Kind Program

  • Oversee the solicitation, coordination, inventory, and organization of all GIK donations.

  • Serve as primary contact for donors and visitors donating GIK items at Sunflower House.  

  • Ensure Gift In Kind (GIK) items are acknowledged and used appropriately. 

  • Work with program staff to maintain a current Wish List and an Amazon Wish List.

  • Work with the director and manager to create appeals, plan solicitations, organize drives, solicit and cultivate and engage donors.

  • Engage and cultivate GIK donors more deeply with Sunflower House. 

 

Donor Stewardship:

  • Serve as the primary DonorPerfect database manager.  

  • Manage gift entry, writing and processing gift and donor thank you letters.

  • Work closely with the Development Director to create and implement an annual Donor Stewardship plan: welcome packets, donor cultivation events, updates, etc.  

  • Create engaging, individualized thank you letters for donors and ensure timely delivery. 

  • Pull donor reports and mailing lists as needed for fund development efforts.

  • Analyze full options of use for DonorPerfect and implement as necessary.

  • Ensure new donors are included in communications - Constant Contact, DonorPerfect, etc. 

  • Provide support for data entry into OneCause, event management software.

  • If prior experience with DonorPerfect and OneCause does not exist, training will be provided

  • Work with accountant on monthly reconciliation, balancing deposits and journal entries (including group giving)

 

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support for the Development Director and CEO.

  • Prepare Board packets and communications and prepare for monthly Board meetings. 

  • Manage collection and data entry of timesheets and leave requests for each department. 

  • Manage the background check process for staff, volunteers, and Board members. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Other:

  • Remain abreast of issues related to child abuse and neglect.

  • Attend agency functions, donor and volunteer appreciation events, special events and meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Sunflower House.

  • Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

 

Requirements: 

  • Ability to follow-through and meet deadlines.

  • A high level of attention to detail and organizational skills are essential. 

  • Experience in event management, volunteer management, fundraising/development is a plus.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with confidence and ease.  

  • Able to work independently or in a team environment. 

  • Must possess the ability to communicate with people from all backgrounds and feel at home in both corporate and nonprofit settings. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office/Google, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. 

  • Must demonstrate professional appearance, pleasant telephone and interpersonal demeanor.

  • Ability to interact effectively and confidently with partners, clients, staff, board and volunteers.

  • Respectful of cultural differences, and ability to remain sensitive and demonstrate appropriate boundaries with all constituents.

  • Flexible scheduling as some evening and weekend hours will be required.

 

Physical/Environmental/Other: 

  • Lift 25 pounds routinely.

  • Bend, sit, stoop on a regular basis.

  • Work in an often-stressful environment, requiring quick thinking in difficult situations 

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel in and around the region. 

  • Ability to effectively use all tools, devices, equipment, computer systems required to fulfill essential functions of the position.
