Position Summary
The Events & Marketing Manager reports to the CEO and is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and ongoing management of all Chamber and EDC events and related marketing initiatives. This role combines independent execution with collaborative planning and includes responsibility for event delivery, marketing implementation, sponsorship fulfillment, and brand storytelling. This position will manage all events and marketing efforts in a small-staff environment, ensuring initiatives enhance member value, organizational growth, and budget goals, while working closely with leadership and volunteers to support engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning, Coordination & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all Chamber and EDC events and programs.
- Collaborate with the Chamber CEO and EDC President on event planning, priorities, and execution.
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing events and assist in the development of new events and programs that align with the strategic plan.
- Coordinate and support volunteer committees related to events, providing timelines, communication, and follow-through.
- Manage all event logistics including venues, vendors, speakers, registration, sponsorship fulfillment, and on-site execution.
- Maintain organized records to support reporting, audits, and future planning.
- Current core events include, but are not limited to the Annual Meeting, Spring and Fall Golf Tournaments, Chamber Luncheons, Coffee & Chamber After Hours, EDC Solution Series Breakfast, EDC After Hours, Women in Business, and Ribbon Cuttings.
Budgeting, Revenue & Financial Support
- Manage event and program budgets with oversight from the CEO.
- Support revenue generation through sponsorship coordination, ticket sales management, and promotional efforts.
- Provide post-event financial summaries and reporting.
- Manage invoicing, payments, and registration tracking within the organization’s database.
Marketing & Brand Management
- Plan and execute marketing efforts for membership, events, programs, and initiatives.
- Create content for social media, e-newsletters, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Ensure all marketing aligns with the Chamber’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities.
- Gather photos, testimonials, and member stories to strengthen engagement and storytelling.
Membership Engagement & Organizational Support
- Support member engagement through events, communications, and programs.
- Help ensure initiatives deliver value that supports retention and recruitment.
- Represent the Chamber and EDC professionally at events and in the community.
- Serve as the primary staff point of contact, responsible for answering the main phone line and responding to or directing all incoming inquiries for the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Chamber and EDC’s mission and operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, event management, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in event planning, marketing, communications, or a related role.
- Experience independently managing events and marketing initiatives preferred.
- Experience with databases/CRMs and ability to quickly learn internal systems.
- Experience working with volunteers or committees preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative and able to execute ideas with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Experience with CRM/database systems, invoicing, and basic financial reporting.
- Experience with social media, email marketing platforms, and website content management.
- Able to represent the organization professionally with members, sponsors, and community partners.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Full-time, in-office position with flexibility, reporting directly to the CEO.
- Occasional evening availability required for events.
- Success requires initiative, adaptability, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- May involve lifting up to 30 lbs. and periods of prolonged sitting, standing, or walking, as well as using standard office equipment.
