POSITION TITLE:  Fund Development Manager
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Olathe Public Schools Foundation/Mill Creek Campus
HOURS OF WORK/CALENDAR: 8 Hour Daily/ 242 Calendar Days Yearly
STATUS: Classified - Exempt, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Fund Development Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, annual giving and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and Olathe Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors.
This position is part of the OPSF staff and reports to the OPSF Executive Director.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as primary fundraiser.
  • Works closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
  • Works closely with district administration and staff, volunteer leaders and foundation staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward potential and current donors to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation.
  • Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the communications staff to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Works closely with Olathe Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors to plan and execute successful fundraising plans for donor events such as the annual golf tournament, the semi-annual Women’s Giving Circle, the annual Autumn Breakfast and the annual Taste of the Town.
  • Coordinates the creation and distribution of year-end annual statements.
  • Coordinates the creation and implementation of a district staff campaign.
  • Maintains accurate donor records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, including fundraising for other foundation priorities, and managing the coordination of in-kind gifts.
  • Attend foundation, district, and community events, including some evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, program management, non-profit management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events, or equivalent experience in a sales environment with a proven track record of success in reaching sales goals.

  • Proven record with influencing decision makers and meeting development, fundraising or sales objectives.
  • Demonstrates passion and knowledge of the OPSF mission with the ability to clearly articulate it to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with proven time management skills. 
  • Able to work independently or as a cohesive part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a proven record with determining priorities and effectively managing a wide variety of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high-level of discretion and confidentiality regarding OPSF, district and employee information.
  • Demonstrates proficient intermediate skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates a strong record of setting stretch goals and attaining them.
  • Must be an initiative-taker, highly organized, and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, board members, and volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
  • Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours due to occasional meetings and donor event schedules.
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CFRE or other fundraising certifications
  • Understanding of the local community and the special relationship between donors, investors, and non-profit organizations.
  • Work experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Resident of the Olathe School District.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of light work— Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  The position includes occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in generally hazard free environment and a clean atmosphere
