GENERAL PURPOSE

A ProX Coach guides teams of high school students through a summer internship experience.  Coaching both students and employers through successful interactions is critical for creating a lasting impact through the program.  In collaboration with program staff, the coaching team, and community partners, coaches will influence teams and develop individuals in a way that cultivates successful completion of the program. Completion for student participants means they have participated in the required professional development, and logged 125 hours in the experience management platform..  This role reports to Director of Programs and will have close and frequent collaboration and coordination with education and business leaders.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 
  • Recruit, train, and develop young people while creating a culture of high engagement and strong performance.

  • Support the ProX coaching model by providing meaningful feedback to build performance and accountability to both employers and interns.

  • Exercise Professional Conduct when engaging partners, parents and ProX staff. .

  • Focus on problem-solving, measurable outcomes, and maximum efficiency and productivity.

  • Assist in staffing ProX events including workshops, hiring fair, and other employer/intern related events. 

  • Adapt team priorities to respond to interns, employers, partners, and key stakeholders’ needs.

  • Collaborate with business and education partners to provide oversight and lead intern cohorts in their program experience. 

  • Support interns with completing professional development training.

  • Support employers with guidance on the policies and procedures of the internship program.

  • Use ProX systems to capture and submit data that supports the program goals.

  • Conduct weekly site visits to internship sites to evaluate learning/work environments.

  • Provide coaching, support, and resources to promote effective self-advocacy among interns.

  • Create channels for effective communication and coordination among businesses and intern teams.

  • Abide by a developmental approach by encouraging interns to problem solve and be deeply embedded in human-centered strategies that reflect community engagement, social impact, operational excellence, and financial literacy.

  • Manage intern teams by reviewing project performance, team member attendance, project assessments, academic performance, and responses to coaching based on project performance metrics and identified opportunities.

  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in administrative tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and task management in relation to intern management. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 
  • Specific skill-based competencies required to perform the functions of the job include compliance with state and federal laws; policies and procedures; crisis management; ProX program policies, processes and procedures; intern management; curriculum development; real world learning experience framework; intern development.

  • Specific knowledge-based competencies required to perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; preparing and maintaining accurate records; organization and planning; data analysis and report writing; and supervision.

  • Place priority on establishing, developing and maintaining effective working relationships; maintaining confidentiality; and facilitating communication between stakeholders with unique needs

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining timeline commitments. 

  • Flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others in various circumstances.

  • Capacity for independent critical thinking to assess problems and formulate actionable strategies.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 
  • Education: Combination of degree and work experience in fields of education or social work (teaching certification preferred).

  • Experience and knowledge of team building, problem-solving/developing solutions, and high-level student engagement.

  • Ability to manage a team and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Prior experience with youth and relationship management preferred.

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Monday to Friday (occasional weekends and evenings during Training and intense program schedule)

The work environment is mostly in-person during summer experience in June and July. As well as in-person training in March and April.
