Prairie Sky Counseling Center, a Kansas City nonprofit, offers high-quality, accessible, holistic, culturally competent, and trauma-informed mental health services. We partner with local nonprofits and faith communities to provide services in multiple locations. DESCRIPTION

Position Overview :Join our Clinical Services Team at one of our satellite locations in greater Kansas City. Full-time therapists maintain a minimum caseload of 20 client hours per week, with an expected full caseload of 25 hours. Part-time therapists see a minimum of 10 clients weekly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Clinical licensure (LCSW, LSCSW, LMFT, LPC, LCPC, etc.) in Missouri or Kansas, dual licenses preferred
  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional counseling, or psychology
  • Experience with a range of clients (teens to older adults)
  • 2+ years of mental health services experience

DUTIES:

  • Provide minimum of 20 - 25 client hours for full-time therapists, 10 clients hours for part-time, of trauma-informed, culturally competent therapy weekly (individual, couple, family, or group).
  • Use evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Create and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Complete documentation in EHR within specified timeframes (progress notes 48 hours/ treatment plans 72 hours).
  • Inform clients about financial and emotional commitments; assist with fee collection if needed.
  • Make referrals to other service providers as needed.

Clinical Staff Participation:

  • Collaborate with staff, consultants, and referring professionals.
  • Participate in clinical supervision (monthly), clinical case consultation (weekly), staff meeting (monthly), and retreats (as scheduled).
  • Maintain professional licensure(s), individual liability insurance, and cooperate with third-party credentialing.

Agency Administration and Community Outreach:

  • Participate in the expansion of the agency's referral network through client recruitment.
  • Provide training and speaking to increase mental health awareness through events in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Collaboration with diverse partners and colleagues
  • Support client access through being credentialed with commercial insurance and Medicaid
  • Willing to learn and understand dynamics of religion and spirituality and their therapeutic implications
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work virtually and in-office
  • Availability for some nontraditional hours

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged sitting and computer use
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds

COMPENSATION – Licensed Clinicians

  • Clinical Rate: $59.50/hr — includes all direct client service hours and required documentation
  • Administrative Rate: $35.00/hr — all approved non-clinical time, including meetings, training, and outreach. Many practices do not compensate for this time; we do.

Full-time therapists are expected to maintain a minimum average caseload of 20 client hours per week, with a goal of 25. Based on a 25-hour clinical week and 48 working weeks, estimated gross annual earnings are approximately $85,000, including paid time off.

Actual earnings depend on caseload. Therapists consistently at 20 hours/week would earn closer to $70,000 annually.
