Position Description:

The Grief Support Specialist works as a member of the Hospice team in providing supportive services to significant others and/or family members of previous Hospice patients. The Grief Support Specialist is responsible for duties which support services at the Solace House including counseling, grant reporting and billing services.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required;
• Master’s degree in Social Work, preferred. 
• Motivation to work with the dying and bereaved, required. 
• Minimum two (2) years post
• Master’s professional experience in Social Work or Counseling, preferred.
• Prior, relevant experience providing grief counseling and/or bereavement services in a hospice setting, preferred. 
• Experience supporting children and adults in a service agency or private practice required. 
• Ability to demonstrate clinical judgment and decision making based on knowledge of Social Work or Counseling practices, techniques, and ethics, required.
• Valid, unencumbered Social Work licensure (LMSW, MO-LCSW, or KS-LSCSW) in Kansas and Missouri required; may be substituted with Clinical Counseling licensure (LPC) in Kansas and Missouri.  
• Prior working experience with Grants management and required reporting, preferred.  
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required; working knowledge of Google Suite, preferred.
• Prior working knowledge of Electronic Medical Systems (EMRs) required; prior experience with Suncoast preferred. 
• Good telephone etiquette and public communication skills, required.
