Job Title: Development Officer
Supervised By: Executive Director
Hours: 40 hours/week
Summary: The Development Officer will work with all fundraising events and activities for the Kansas City Automotive Museum (KCAM) and assist in increasing community awareness of all KCAM programs. The main goal of the Development Officer is to help the Museum meet its annual fundraising goal for the existing museum and the capital campaign for the new museum as outlined in the fundraising strategy.
In addition to working with the Operations & Events Coordinator, this position will report directly to the Executive Director and the KCAM Board of Directors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities-include the following:
Fundraising activities, including: (60%)
Maintain a database of donations and contacts
SME on chosen fundraising software
Execute and improve fundraising strategy and plan for fundraising events
Attend KCAM events
Manage and develop relationships with current and potential donors
Solicit sponsorships, donations, corporate matching gifts and charitable bequests
Identify new foundations, corporations and opportunities to cultivate prospective donors
Maintain donor database
Track progress of pending and secured donations
Assist with identifying new grant opportunities
Develop fundraising presentations
Grant writing
Fundraising events, including: (40%)
Plan 2 or 3 large fundraising events
Assist in selling vendor space for marketing events
Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience:
Experience in Fundraising/Development and/or sales is preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style; ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases; ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Use of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, Social Media, CRM, and basic understanding of databases.
Other Skills:
Excellent relationships building skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Good organizational skills.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical & Mental Requirements
The employee must occasionally lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
