Vice President of Programming

The Vice President of Homeowner Programs leads Habitat KC’s efforts to ensure a successful transition to homeownership for program participants. This role oversees all aspects of homeowner services, including mortgage origination and servicing, homebuyer education, housing counseling, and regulatory compliance. The VP also drives strategic growth of affordable housing initiatives and ensures program excellence through data-driven decision-making, strong partnerships, and effective team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead and support staff and volunteers; foster collaboration; provide culturally competent services; and manage team development and performance. 

Homeowner Services:

Oversee homeowner selection, education, post-purchase support, and compliance with Fair Housing and lending laws.

Mortgage Program Oversight:

Direct mortgage origination and servicing operations, ensure legal compliance, manage delinquency/loss prevention, and expand services regionally. 

Program Strategy & Compliance:

Design and manage budgets, align departmental goals with organizational strategy, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure policy compliance and regulatory reporting. 

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

Work closely with Construction, Development, and Finance teams to coordinate project planning, funding, and data analysis. 

Performance Metrics:

Timeliness and accuracy of documentation, compliance with lending regulations, program impact, customer satisfaction, and internal team effectiveness. 

 

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • At least three years of supervisory experience in a management position supervising staff of two or more 
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to effectively work with a broad range of people 
  • Strong ability to work both autonomously and with a team 
  • Prefer five years’ experience in housing industry/mortgage lending 
  • Experience in the non-profit/human services industry preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly skilled in public speaking and large group facilitation 
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently; self-starter and self-motivator; proactive 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMS software  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

  • Most work is performed indoors 
  • Good organizational skills 
  • Experience with data entry required 
  • Experience working with volunteers strongly preferred 
  • Mobility required as responsibilities included visiting construction job sites and attending meetings across Jackson, Clay, Platte, Wyandotte, Johnson and Leavenworth counties 
  • Requires valid driver’s license and ability to meet company’s insurance requirements; occasional driving 
  • Evenings, weekend work required for homeowner classes, orientations and events 
  • Must be able to pass background, motor vehicle and credit reviews 
Salary Description
The salary range is $90,000 - $100,000/year
