Summary
This position will work as part of LCT (Lakemary Crisis Team) providing crisis and de-escalation interventions to meet the needs of members of the community struggling with ASD and IDD. The position is perfect for clinicians who like to work in fast paced environments to help de-escalate and resolve crises and improve the intersection between community, law enforcement and mental health. This clinician will work closely with the BCBA, trainer, and case manager that will make up LCT (Lakemary Crisis Team).
The goals of the team include providing mental and behavioral health de-escalation services, decreasing unnecessary trips to the emergency rooms, avoid preventable arrests and reduce repeat mental health calls by connecting people to the appropriate resources.
The clinician will provide interventions at various locations in the community and will work as part of the interdisciplinary team in coordinating and implementing therapy, behavioral support and case management services.
The clinician will provide post-crisis outreach by phone and in person providing therapeutic support in order to determine if the crisis has resolved and to help engage individuals in the least restrictive treatment.
The clinician will provide outpatient therapy services as well.
The clinician will review all referrals and with BCBA , trainer and case manager determine next steps with the following:
· Individual and family therapy sessions (provided until client has stabilized and resources are in place)
· BCBA services for families, caregivers, teachers and community stakeholders
· Case management services to provide support with coping skills, resources and family support
There is flexibility with the days and hours for the schedule
The candidate will work with leadership to determine the best schedule for them and the team
The schedule may include sessions, meetings and trainings outside of the normal work hours, so flexibility is necessary
Work with LCT (Lakemary Crisis Team) to respond to behavioral health calls, to conduct a comprehensive assessment to include recommending appropriate level of care, assessing individual risk for suicide and other safety related concerns, determining the need for resource referrals, and communicating relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders
Work with BCBA to develops complex intervention plans to address the clinical needs of individuals; collaborates with outpatient teams and other community agencies to advocate and partner for individuals’ needs; collaborates with other providers in the development, implementation, and review of intervention plans
Reviews police reports and determines appropriate next steps, including follow up needs after the initial call to ensure the crisis has resolved and/or if additional resources are needed
Follow up can be conducted by phone or an in-person outreach alongside a law enforcement officer
Submits clinical documentation regarding services provided; completes the state hospital screening for involuntary committals and any additional required documentation
Work with BCBA to facilitate trainings for police department, first responders, schools and families regarding de-escalation and mental health related topics; participate in presentations in the community regarding the program
Assist in program development related activities to include data collection, reports, conferences and relevant trainings
This position reports to the Director of Outpatient Therapy
