Community Sew Day
Join us for Community Sewing Day
Spend a few hours sewing, chatting, and creating together, making items that will be shared with neighbors across our community. On August 28th from 10am to 3pm, we’re gathering at The Sewing Labs for a hands-on day of sewing and assembling items that will go directly to local partners, including Volunteer KC, Shawnee Parc and St. Luke’s.
We’ll be working together on lap quilts, walker bags, kids’ activity bags, and pillowcases. Some projects will involve sewing, and others will be simple kit assembly, so there’s a place for everyone to jump in. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you sew every day, you are welcome here.
Bring yourself, and if you have one, feel free to bring your sewing machine. All materials and guidance will be provided, and there’s no cost to attend.
This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are kind of day. You can stay for the whole time or drop in for a bit. You’ll leave knowing exactly who your work is helping and how it will be used.
This Volunteer Opportunity is promoted by Nonprofit Connect.
